Summary

The Continuous Improvement Business Performance Leader will be a part of a central CI team responsible for the deployment of critical Continuous Improvement capability, deploying initiatives and assisting in transformational culture change. This role will serve as the executors and coaches to site and functional teams for defined CI Tools and processes (i.e. Manufacturing Operating System, Daily Management System, Center-lining, Gemba, etc.). In addition, this role will be a key part of the development of our Corporate CI toolbox. In this role it will be critical to understand the importance of data driven decisions, daily process/standards and how CI tools can drive business improvements. The CI Business Performance Management is viewed as a critical capability and success factor to effectively support developing a World Class Poultry operation that delivers sustainable, repeatable results. This position will report directly to the Continuous Improvement Business Performance Manager.

This position is strategically located near for easy access to site clusters (Pennsylvania, Virginia, D.C., Maryland or Delaware), however is remote and requires travel to facilities and HQ as requested.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead annual diagnostic process for all locations that is repeatable and delivers clear loss analysis where top opportunities exist.

  • Coach and mentor Continuous Improvement Managers’ skill sets with the tools as well as effective implementation techniques.

  • Be a critical member of a the CI team to drive change management through CI methodology, processes and culture.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for CI Methodology, CI Tools and the implementation of Daily Process controls to drive operational improvements.

  • Execute strategies on how to best leverage CI tools and processes to drive culture and results.

  • Support Supply Chain Productivity Program with the primary objective of supporting aligning each opportunity with P&L, quantify target impact and track value realization efforts for supply chain.

  • Participate in the development and deliver the appropriate training materials and learning techniques that are adapted to application, opportunity, and audience.

  • A member of central CI team to support the CI team, business and functional teams for building capability, deploying initiatives and assisting in transformational culture.

  • Partner with business and functional teams (Safety, Quality, HR, Maintenance) to incorporate CI methodology into business strategies and execution.

  • Participate in execution of the Continuous Improvement Strategic Plan.

  • Utilize methodology, coaching, assessing, and teaching to improve the overall health of CI program.

  • Actively participate in benchmarking and CI Network connections to identify, translate and promote best practices that can be applied in the plant.

  • Travel to identified locations to coach, train and deploy needed tools and processes.

  • Promotes the transformation from a reactive organizational culture to one that is more preventative and predictable, utilizing data driven decision-making, sustainable actions, and the Continuous Improvement tools.

Education and Experience Requirements

BS degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Engineering or related, and 5-7 years or more leading Continuous Improvement or business transformations. Equivalent related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A solid operational or continuous improvement background. Prior exposure to Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence tools.

  • Core competencies to include Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen Event Facilitation, Root Cause Analysis, Microsoft Office, Power App/BI Platform and Minitab working knowledge. Should not only demonstrate the ability to “do” but also “teach” in the various techniques.

  • Experience participating in Business Performance meetings (MOS, DMS, Tier Meetings, etc.).

  • Proven experience in a willingness to promote and drive change; able to communicate and work with teams at all organizational levels from senior management to shop floor; strong communication, organization and presentation skills.

  • Ability to learn new concepts, combined with common sense and effectively apply to problem solving. A combination of business, interpersonal, technical and analytical skills while being motivated by challenge.

  • Works well in a team environment, with enhanced ability to leverage influential leadership skills.

  • Flexibility to accommodate different shifts and travel to locations will be necessary.

  • Ability to travel to support Deployment and capability building efforts. Estimated travel of 50%.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.

  • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

  • When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to110 lb. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. May need to climb ladders.
