Perdue AgriBusiness is seeking Operations Interns in Chesapeake, VA . The Operations Internship will provide an introduction to college students seeking a career in agriculture. The Internship will provide an understanding of the business, safety and environmental requirements to manage and operate an agricultural business.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the agricultural business processes.

  • Develop an understanding of the OSHA safety processes and requirements of an agricultural business.

  • Develop an understanding of the Local, State, and Federal environmental processes and requirements of an agricultural business.

  • To perform assigned research and project work related to an agricultural business.

Minimum Education

  • High School Graduate

  • 2 – 3 years of college coursework in AgriBusiness, Agriculture, Ag Economics or related field

Experience Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of commonly used office suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher; 3.25 GPA or higher is highly preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

The environmental factors and physical requirements of this position include the following: climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
