Summary
The Stevedore is responsible for performing various tasks relating to the loading/unloading of various grains into or from Maritime Vessels and or barges. Additionally, will operate ship loading gantry’s, ship unloader, and heavy machinery including, skid steers and front-end loaders to preform task needed. When not performing stevedoring responsibilities, position will require housekeeping and general labor duties throughout the grain elevator.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for performing various tasks relating to the loading/unloading of various grains into or from Maritime Vessels and or barges
Operate ship loading gantry’s, ship unloader, and heavy machinery including, skid steers and front-end loaders to preform task needed
Conducts routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance and or repairs
Perform all work within the safety guidelines established by local state, and federal agencies as well as company policies
Perform housekeeping and general labor duties throughout the grain elevator
Minimum Education
- High School Graduate or GED preferred
Experience Requirements
One year of prior ship loading experience or Union Laborer with the ability to learn PECO operation
TWIC application is required
Experience Preferred
- Reading, Writing, Math, and Analytical skills
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to move freely throughout the agribusiness facilities including climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 lbs.), exposure temperatures (0-100) degrees Fahrenheit, humidity (0-100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus. Required to travel to remote agribusiness facilities and customer locations.
