Summary

The Regional Sales Manager is a direct sales management position with a pre-establishing direct and food broker partnership sales network. This position will be responsible for managing existing customer base and developing those relationships to protect our current distribution while always striving to drive incremental growth. In addition to existing customer, this position will also be responsible for prospecting and generating new accounts that are aligned to strategic in-channel goals of the pork division. In this position you will be responsible for interacting with the entire Coleman Natural Foods team. You will have financial responsibility to maintain and grow the Coleman Natural fresh and processed/packaged meats product-lines across both retail and foodservice customers within the assigned geography. Experience is strongly preferred in traditional grocery, specialty/natural, club and foodservice channels. Experience in both fresh and processed pork is highly preferred, preference in selling premium proteins with natural claims. This position is responsible for directing all elements of the sales process from direct sales presentations, business reviews, cultivating new partners, driving branded in-channel no antibiotics ever sales and managing broker partners in addition to their training and/or evaluations. Travel 60%+ across sales area required to work with broker partners and customer-facing meetings. Preferred candidate locations are within central corridor of U.S (MN, IL, TX, etc).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • With VP of Sales, you will provide input in developing the sales plan and sets strategy for your area of responsibility including: goals for volume, selling price, revenue, product mix, market share and overall P&L; establishes a budget to control spending; and contributes meaningful input to the fiscal planning process.

  • Act as a technical, product expert and brand ambassador to the customer. Provides training, creates sales presentations and develops strategic solutions to business issues that face the customer to service their needs and create and strengthen partnerships.

  • Owns the demand plan for the designated region. Collaboratively plans with the customers and develops a forecast for the region. Establishes customer programs and plans to accomplish the regional goals.

  • Manages the daily responsibilities for store stops, booking feature contracts, headquarters call, new product presentations and business reviews.

  • Teaches and mentors associates in the region regarding sales standards, supply chain initiatives, frequent coaching sessions and presentation and selling techniques utilizing fact based selling.

  • Utilizes and maintains the customer database as a tool for accurate account information and management records, as well as the vehicle for communicating weekly account contract updates.

  • Staffs, trains, establishes goals and accountabilities and career development for the associates within the region.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration, and 8 - 10 years experience. Requires strong reading, writing, communication and analytical skills. Management experience required. Must be able to communicate with customers and suppliers. Must be able to travel overnight to customer/vendor locations and/or plant locations.

Experience Preferred

Management experience preferably in the food or food sales areas.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.

May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
