Summary

We are recruiting for an Associate Project Engineer in a manufacturing/production setting. This role is responsible for creating technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) and support the development and execution of capital projects.

This is a local remote position. Two hours from a Perdue Plant location preferred. Central and Eastern with Eastern hours strongly preferred. Travel: Up to 80% domestic travel required.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

CAD Support :

  • Support Engineering Team and Plant Operations by providing computer aided designs and drawings for equipment/material/workflow/processes for all harvest and prepared foods plants.

  • Analyze schematics/blueprints and compare the specifications to the draft, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company regulations and quality standards.

  • Attend project meetings and review projects and drawings as needed. Assist in the selection of engineering materials and equipment.

  • Develop and Maintain Technical Documentation system

Technical Engineering :

  • Working with Project Manager/Sr. Plant Engineer, provide technical leadership and support to develop and execute capital projects. Responsibility includes, however not limited to, facility / equipment / production systems maintenance, environmental, plant energy utilization, Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), local capital planning and deployment, and management of capital projects.

  • This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Engineering. This position has no direct reports but works collaboratively with the maintenance, production, safety, QA, and environmental managers. This position requires good communication skills and the ability to communicate to large groups on a regular basis.

Orqanizational Interface

  • Local technical leadership and direction with respect to the plant operations management efforts.

  • Works collaboratively with maintenance leadership to deliver high performance facilities / equipment / production systems

  • This position must effectively work with and be a valued member of the operations management team to ensure the technical requirements of safety, environmental, energy, and production are met or exceeded.

Minimum Education and Requirements

BS degree or equivalent related work experience in Engineering or architecture.

3-5 years of related experience:

  • Knowledge of engineering design principals.

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to conceptualize design with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Must be able to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings.

  • Frequent plant and project site visits are required; travel is extensive.

  • Learning agility and flexibility.

  • Experience in Manufacturing is required.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. Position is active. Work activity is on the project and plant sites. On the floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine.

  2. May need to move equipment occasionally.

  3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

  4. Work activity is where the processing equipment is located.

  5. Work environment includes, but is not limited to, a normal office environment and construction site as well as climate extremes found in a poultry processing operation, feed mill, hatchery and a waste water treatment facility.

  6. Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities.

  7. When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.

  1. Must be able to work in confined and or permit required confined spaces and heights.

  2. Must be able to work on and or around operating equipment.

  3. Must be trained and use Lockout/Tagout
