Summary

Assists the nurse(s) by carrying out tasks not requiring licensure; enhances patient flow through the medical office by delivering quality care and support under the health care professional’s directions

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Performs clerical tasks, e.g., filing, telephone answering, scheduling of doctor’s visits and referrals. Enters data into OHM Data Management System.

  2. Establishes and maintains medical records and prepares patients for treatment by physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or nurses. Schedules and follows up on test results, procedures, referrals, etc. to ensure appropriate health care.

  3. Applies medical treatments, including but not limited to splints, wraps, etc. Performs blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, obtains clinical specimens (blood, urine) and process for testing, and administers immunizations/vaccinations under the direction of healthcare provider (optional).

  4. Assists staff with systems for health improvement of associates at the facility, i.e. participation in and support with HIP.

Minimum Education

Certificate for completion of course for Certified Medical Assistant (Clinical Medical Assistant) and /or Emergency Medical Technician and one year’s experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or EMT. Phlebotomy certification required. All healthcare staff must adhere to the company immunization policy; provide proof of training, certifications and/or license.

Experience Requirements

Computer experience. Two or more years experience a plus

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to record findings in writing or electronically.

  2. Have ability to respond as needed to medical emergencies in all areas of the complex.

  3. Majority of work in office or clinic setting, as well as inter-facility & external environmental conditions (e.g. noise levels, changes in temperature, humidity, etc.

  4. Must have ability to move throughout the processing plant & surrounding environments of the off-site facilities, such as feedmills, hatcheries, etc

  5. Must wear PPE as required.
