The overall purpose of this position is to facilitate the functions of the Human Resource Department by performing and administering various tasks that include applicant procedures, attendance procedures, new hire orientation, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Procedures, filing, benefits administration, assisting Medical department with paperwork and information, compiling various reports for management in various software formats, and communication of basic company policies and procedures to plant associates which include cross training in all clerical human resource functions .

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Track attendance for associates in plant. This includes entering data and issuing attendance discipline. Additionally required to respond to routine attendance opportunities. Reading comprehension and ability to proficiently use a computer and computer software with accuracy and speed. Relate and administer pertinent basic company policies and procedures to associates such as medical LOA’s, exit interviews, and completing medical insurance forms. Comprehend written materials, alphabetize and organize work, reason logically, and adapt to very busy office work environment. Answer multi-line telephone in a professional and business like manner, use proper telephone etiquette and direct the call to the appropriate associate and/or resolve the callers reason for calling if permitted or take a detailed message. Greet all visitors to the Human Resources Office in a professional and business like manner and offer assistance where needed. If unable to personally assist, escort the visitor(s) to the individual having such knowledge and/or authority. Assist in all other duties relating to the Human Resources Office.

Minimum Education

Strong reading, communication, math, writing, confidentiality, and analytical skills with a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Office administration, clerical, and computer skills with an experienced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), Lotus Word Pro, and ability to learn and utilize other software programs with ease..

Experience Requirements

1 year experience in administrative or clerical position. Proven success in handling administrative responsibilities. Demonstrated ability for accuracy, meeting deadlines, experience in multi-tasking and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Experience Preferred

Knowledge and experience of HRIS. Requires prior experience using HR/Payroll database systems.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
