Summary

The purpose of the Offal operator is to ensure an uninterrupted offal flow from the plant through offal to wastewater. The offal operator will monitor the offal operations, the parking lot sluetter station, the plant lift station, and all pumps, piping and hardware associated with offal.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The ability to move throughout the assigned areas of responsibility to perform inspections, operate water hoses, observe machinery, open and close appropriate valves, turn on and off appropriate water pumps and tumblers. To fulfill all assigned oral and written work instructions, to comply with all SOPs, and to complete in a timely manner all work sheets and check lists. To assist in the cleaning of various Offal equipment and areas. To keep a continuous watch for operation malfunctions on pumps, screws, and conveyors while completing scheduled work and general housekeeping. Must wear personal protective equipment as position requires and perform job duties within Perdue and OSHA safety standards including lockout / tag out procedures.

Minimum Education

The position requires the ability to read, write, and use analytical skills to troubleshoot and maintain mechanical and water pumping systems. High school diploma required, some college preferred.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must have 3-5 years poultry operations experience or possess an equivalent amount of leadership experience supervising technically qualified associates.

Experience Preferred

Candidates must be technically competent, experienced in troubleshooting and servicing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

1) The ability to climb a 15’ vertical ladder and be able to work from a railed platform 15 feet in the air. 2) Work in wet, humid environment with a noise exposure between 80 to 110 DB and light intensity between 50 and 1000 foot candles. 3) A nominal exposure to chemicals listed in MSDS sheets and training available. 4) Work at times outside in all seasonal weather (rain, snow, heat, cold). 5) Work on a range of floor surfaces from rough dry to wet slippery.
