The Associate Accountant manages the accounting activities for the Mt. Vernon processing plant operations in accordance with GAAP and Corporate accounting policies including timely and accurate financial reporting, operations analysis and assists with planning process and audit plan
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and maintains proper accounting procedures and controls for the Mt. Vernon, Washington location in accordance with GAAP and Company accounting policies.
Prepares monthly closing activities for assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with the Company accounting calendar. Duties to include inventory control, balance sheet reconciliations, operations reporting and analysis.
Prepares weekly profit estimates and operating statistics as required. This includes preparation of weekly reconciliation for sales, purchases and inventory.
Participates in preparation of annual plan and capital budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.
May supervise weekly payroll process.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
0 - 3 years experience or in absence of a Bachelors degree, total work experience equals 8 years
Must have strong cost systems background
Excellent analytical skills and sound understanding of accounting principles
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, i.e., Excel, Word and Outlook
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Knowledge of GAAP and an understanding of accounting/financial systems and software applications.
Must be able to travel to remote Company facilities and other locations as required.
