The Assistant QA Manager will lead activities in the QA department ensuring consistent product quality of all products produced. Identifies potential issues in all phases of operations. Duties will include the management of plant quality documentation, HACCP documentation, Raw Material QA/HACCP documentation, etc. plus the ability to manage product hold and spec verification/process adherence. The ideal candidate must be able to manage the plant's QA functions whenever the QA Manager is absent or unavailable due to other business needs.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, documents and implements programs and procedures to ensure that customer, company and regulatory specifications are met. Communicates to and trains all associates, i.e., QA, Production and Maintenance, etc.) prior to implementation. Conducts and documents monthly audits of the facility in the areas of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), Pest Control, Glass Avoidance, SSOP/HACCP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure/Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and general facility condition. Based on findings requests corrective actions/preventative measures for deficiencies. Assists with providing training to associates in these areas. Develops and maintains lines of communication between QA Techs, Production Supervisors and Management to ensure that all are kept informed of issues found, corrective actions taken and any changes to programs and procedures. Resolves problems that arise during the shift and develops appropriate solutions and corrective actions/preventative measures for those issues. Maintains a positive working relationship with USDA responding in a timely manner to any issues/concerns. Keeps the appropriate Operations management aware of USDA concerns and corrective actions from your shift.
Bachelors degree in Business, Poultry Science or related discipline
5+ years experience. Good analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills. Requires travel and overnight trips.
Experience in working in a poultry plant. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. 2. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. 3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 4. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment. 5. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
