Description/Job Summary

The purpose of a Trainer is to train associates during their initial onboard training period. The Trainer will provide remedial and supplemental training to associates to assist them in learning proper job functions, safe work habits, rotation procedures

and appropriate food safety measures.

*This position is assigned to day shift*


  1. Introduce associates and temporary associates (when applicable) to their jobs, including basic training; rotation procedures; safe work habits, clock-in and clock-out procedures as well as monitor associates for proper GMP’s and safety equipment (hair/beard

net, ear plugs, safety glasses, aprons, boots, etc.). Insure associates are given the information and training to be successful in their department and at Perdue.

  1. Continually pursue a skill level at or above the required certification level for all positions within the Perry Cook Processing Departments.

  2. Insure associates have been given and understand safety policies and practices including walking them through evacuation routes from their work area to their zone and physically showing them the location of SDS book prior to going to the production floor.

  3. Review performance with associates and advise of strengths and weaknesses. Conduct quality and quantity checks of associate’s performance and document on pre-determined evaluation period. Forward documentation of all evaluation forms to the Onboarding

Team Lead.

  1. Monitor associates' progress and report to supervisor on a weekly basis. Facilitate incorporation of associate into work team.

  2. Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.

  3. Continually monitor and evaluate Operator(s) equipment comprehension on a predetermined basis. This includes holding training classes with new and existing key positions and operators in order to provide continuous education on the equipment on the floor.

  4. Understand and articulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as applies to current position being trained.

  5. Administer Job Preview Program (JPP) with potential candidates on-floor.

Required Skills

Strong reading, writing, analytical and math skills required.

Preferred Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

This position spends 90% of a normal workweek training and developing other associates.

This position spends 10% of a normal workweek performing technical analyses and writing reports.

This position spends 0% of a normal workweek in production or maintenance-related activities.
