Summary

Perdue Farms is hiring a Regional Environmental Manager to support our West Coast operations! This position will assist Corporate Environmental Services in supporting our network of Environmental Managers with compliance and sustainability activities at our West Coast operations, environmental audit support, Green Team activities, development of training programs, Environmental Management Systems (“EMS”), Live Production (grow-out, feed mill, hatchery and breeder operations) and to promote and support our company-wide sustainability programs.

This position will ideally be based in Petaluma, CA or Mount Vernon, WA.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide programmatic direction to the Environmental Managers in the west region (WA & CA), Pork operations (IA), and Pet Treat operations (TX & MI) including live operations as required.

  • Develop training programs (SPCC, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, Waste Management) that can be leveraged within the supported region and across the company.

  • Support the Corporate Environmental Audit function by directing Environmental Managers in audit preparation and following up to ensure closure on any deficiencies noted during the audit.

  • Assist Environmental Managers, as needed, in the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (“EMS”) at facilities within the region. Periodically assess and recommend improvements to the EMS programs.

  • Establish relationships with regional regulatory agencies and attend pertinent meetings as necessary.

  • Assist Corporate Environmental Services with community outreach initiatives and emerging environmental technologies.

  • Assist Corporate Engineering in developing and implementing a capital expenditure plan to maintain and improve environmental operations within the region.

  • Additional duties to support operations as directed by the VP Environmental Operations.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or Natural Sciences.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the management and operation of environmental and sustainability programs.

  • Knowledge of Federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.

  • Management of sustainability program initiatives related to energy, water, and waste reduction efforts.

  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

Experience Preferred

  • A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or Natural Sciences with 10+ years of progressive experience in the management and operation of environmental and sustainability programs.

Compensation Data

This position has a target base salary of $125,000 - $150,000 and is eligible for comprehensive benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. 2. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 3. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
