This production position works in a production area processing poultry products. Requires working with live poultry, raw and/or cooked products. Typical assignments may include live hang, debone, cut up, evisceration, marination, stack off, Multivac, overwrap and/or sanitation. Usually works five to six days a week ; overtime may be required based on production needs.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overseeing hourly associates in performance of their required duties.

  • Make necessary checks on production to maintain production goals.

  • Hold the ability to physically perform and be familiar with each position within the department.

  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.

Describe the decision-making authority of this position, the nature and extent of supervision available and the point at which higher approval is required.

  • Coach, mentor, and hold associates accountable for production related issues as well as behavioral issues that may arise. This must be done with a Team leader or member of management present.

  • Make adjustments to the process as needed to insure production schedules are met and production goals are achieved.

  • Will need to read, comprehend reports, and use this information to manage the process in a proactive manner.

Minimum Education

Reading, writing, math and analytical skills are required. A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

Experience Requirements

1 year/s 0 month/s of line lead/production leadership.

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledgeable of Deboning process including equipment used to run product.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Ability to work for 8 hours or more in a stationary position or walk/stand on a wet, moist, dry, greasy, floors which may include metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval. Required to wear the protective equipment as it aligns with Perdue’s GMP policy, working stationary at 2-3 hour intervals with normal rotation within a normal 8 hour shift. Temperatures range from 35-45 degrees Fahrenheit, work environment has noise levels of 85-96 db in a lighted area of production. Ability to work from various types of ladders and /or stairs. Bending, twisting, lifting up to 50 lbs reaching, sitting, and grasping vary in repetitions.

When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
