The Financial Analyst will deliver timely and accurate reports and analytics for the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department. These responsibilities include: providing detailed financial reconciliations, preparing forecast/budget entries, conducting analytics from disparate sources, producing multiple financial reports and performing ad hoc research requests. The Financial Analyst will report to the Corporate FP&A Director, and interact frequently with the VP of Corporate FP&A and other executives throughout the company.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Analyze financial trends against forecast and budget. Prepare reporting packages that summarize weekly/monthly/quarter/year-end performance. Understand P&L details/drivers and explain key variances.

  2. Provide timely and accurate financial support for forecast, budget and long-range planning activities including building financial models for multiple departments and preparing forecast/budget entries. Initiate improvements for greater reporting efficiencies.

  3. Track financial performance for key strategic initiatives and projects.

  4. Management and Distribution of monthly Overhead reports; Preparation of Overhead Budget templates.

  5. Complete ad hoc analyses and special projects as requested to answer questions regarding financial performance for multiple departments.

  6. Develop and maintain training guides and work-step instructions.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field). 1-2 years of experience within a financial planning and analysis group. Working knowledge of financial and accounting principles. Strong analytical ability- deal with ambiguity, synthesize complex data and draw business insights. Creative problem solver that can identify patterns from disparate sources and deliver comprehensive analyses. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects within tight timelines. Ability to effectively communicate point of view to management and cross-functional teams. A detail oriented approach: must pay close attention to details and error check own work. Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment. Trustworthy with confidential information. Reliability (attendance and timeliness) important to ensure execution of deliverables.

Experience Preferred

Customer service mindset and ability to work with internal “clients” throughout the company. Ability to cope with pressure and changing priorities with a focus on delivering results. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel as well as the ability to learn software applications (i.e. SAP and Hyperion Essbase). Proactively initiates changes to improve work processes. Experience in protein, consumer products or foods-related industries is a plus.
