Perdue AgriBusiness has an opening for a Director of Environmental Services & Sustainability in Salisbury, MD . This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local environmental laws and regulatory programs for all of Perdue Agribusiness locations. Manage Perdue AgriBusiness’ environmental sustainability initiatives and environmental scorecard. Direct and develop environmental staff. Analyze and assist in the management of Perdue AgriBusiness’ environmental costs and projects.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead, hire, train, develop and engage the PAB Environmental staff to meet the needs of the business.
Ensure safe working conditions for all associates.
Ensure compliance, provide technical support, and provide associate education on federal, state and local environmental regulations and permit requirements for Perdue AgriBusiness locations. This includes securing and maintaining required permits from federal, state and local agencies for Perdue’s operations and annual walk-throughs and/or audits of Perdue AgriBusiness facilities.
Develop, lead and manage the Environmental compliance and sustainability programs for Perdue AgriBusiness including the metrics of the Environmental Scorecard, management of Hazardous Wastes, and Community Right-to-Know (CRTK) programs.
Develop and manage Environmental policies, procedures and reporting systems for Perdue AgriBusiness.
Monitor current and pending environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and trends; advise on potential impacts to Perdue AgriBusiness; and develop a proposed course of action.
Represent PAB on Environmental issues with government regulators, industry associations and other stakeholders as directed by management.
Analyze and assist in the management of Perdue AgriBusiness’ environmental costs and projects including permitting costs, notice of violations (NOVs), wastewater and storm water system expenses, and Capital Expense Requisitions (CERs).
- BS Degree (Environmental Science or Biological Sciences)
10+ years of experience in the Environmental field. Experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Understanding of standard software applications. Strong communication, math, organizational and analytical skills. Strong communication, math, organizational, and analytical skills. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license. Basic knowledge of grain, soy crush and feed processing operations.
Wastewater treatment license (preferred)
Visual opacity training (preferred)
Professional Engineering Certification (preferred)
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to move freely throughout the facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus. Required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and other offsite locations. Able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's licemse. Able to use standard office equipment and communicate on telephone.
