Summary

The essential functions of this position is to perform quality control analyses of crude/refined oil products and document analytical results.

This position will be on a rotating 12 hour shift position, the hours will be 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect, log and file oil samples for quality control checks

  • Perform quality control analyses in accordance with plant and/or customer specifications

  • Perform laboratory housekeeping duties to include washing glassware, cleaning floors and cabinets, and emptying trash containers

  • Operate quality control instruments

  • Learn to calibrate and perform simple maintenance on laboratory instruments

  • Learn specialized quality control test to include but limited to solid fat index, spectrometry and chromatography

  • Perform all work within safety guidelines established by local, state and federal agencies as well as company policies

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma / GED (required)

  • 2 years of college in a science program (preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years of applicable lab experience required

  • Education can be substituted for experience

  • Reading, writing and math skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

Experience Preferred

  • Knowledge of quality control preferred

  • Knowledge of chemistry preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Able to move freely throughout the Quality Control Laboratory and Oil Refinery facility to include climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying equipment or samples (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 -

100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment.
