The essential functions of this position is to perform quality control analyses of crude/refined oil products and document analytical results.
This is a rotating shift position. The hours are from 7a to 7p and 7p to 7a.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collect, log and file oil samples for quality control checks
Perform quality control analyses in accordance with plant and/or customer specifications
Perform laboratory housekeeping duties to include washing glassware, cleaning floors and cabinets, and emptying trash containers
Operate quality control instruments
Learn to calibrate and perform simple maintenance on laboratory instruments
Learn specialized quality control test to include but limited to solid fat index, spectrometry and chromatography
Perform all work within safety guidelines established by local, state and federal agencies as well as company policies
High School Diploma / GED (required)
2 years of college in a science program (preferred)
2 - 4 years of applicable lab experience required
Education can be substituted for experience
Reading, writing and math skills
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Knowledge of quality control preferred
Knowledge of chemistry preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to move freely throughout the Quality Control Laboratory and Oil Refinery facility to include climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying equipment or samples (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 -
100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment.
