Summary
The Salisbury team is actively recruiting for a Material Supervisor. The Material Supervisor supports the strategic initiatives of the Company by successfully fulfilling the following: Develops material capacity planning and scheduling based on forecasts to be developed, analyzed, utilized and maintained by this position; achieves on-time as required assigned materials in support of existing products and new product introductions and product enhancements; manages the transactional procurement cycle for assigned materials; contributes to company profitability by managing the inventory of assigned materials on behalf of consolidated company requirements as measured by inventory turnover rate, customer satisfaction and value of material write-off and achieves customer satisfaction by ensuring that quality and availability of assigned materials meet and exceed internal and external requirements. This position also oversees and manages the Box Room and Tote Wash operations over both shifts (day shift and night shift).
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and maintains material requirements plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of assigned materials while minimizing investment, minimizing material obsolescence, and minimizing material write-off. Monitor stock levels and place orders to replenish inventory as needed. Ensure accurate inventory tracking systems are in place and updated regularly. Conduct regular stock audits to prevent discrepancies and optimize storage.
Performs supplier qualification and certification, performance evaluation, material plan preparation and execution, purchase order preparation.
Along with other stakeholders including Research and Development, maintains all packaging specifications for specified product types.
Ensures compliance to all company requirements within assigned areas of responsibility (Code of Ethics, Purchasing Policy, Confidentiality, other requirements as identified by the Company Associate Handbook).
Develops techniques for material and capacity planning and scheduling.
Ensures an optimum supply of assigned materials with no inventories in excess.
Leverages existing technology and recommends best value methodologies and/or systems to competitively manage all direct materials as measured by improving inventory turnover year over year.
Hire, train, and supervise Box room staff, including assigning daily tasks and setting performance goals. Develop and implement training programs for employees regarding safety, equipment handling, and other relevant skills. Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve employee productivity and job satisfaction.
Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and compliance with safety standards. Investigate and report any accidents or incidents that occur in the warehouse.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shipping accuracy, fulfillment times, and inventory turnover. Generate reports and present findings to senior management to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Identify areas for operational improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field. In the absence of a degree, related work experience or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) may be considered.
Experience Requirements
3 - 5 years related work experience. Must have strong communication, analytical and math skills. Strong PC skills and proficiency in utilizing Excel is required. Experience in material planning or production planning. Must be able to travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers' facilities and customers to include overnight travel.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is active.
On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine.
May need to move equipment occasionally.
May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
