Summary
To plan and execute rail logistics in concert with our commercial strategy. This includes rail and fleet management, status reporting and problem resolution. Maintaining and monitoring the integrity of our ERP system is a requirement of this position. To report and coordinate information and communications between internal and external customers, merchandisers, transportation, and accounting.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Generate and audit the daily railcar trace report to determine our as is current situation.
Provide guidance and support to business units regarding train logistics and the direction of the fleet into service.
Manage the rail car application process, generate bills of lading, and resolve billing issues.
Expedite rail car movements, gather movement data, and assist with customer notification.
Decide how to resolve transportation execution issues.
Develop a working knowledge of the accounts payable function and maintenance scheduling programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education
BS degree (Business Management, Transportation, Logistics, or Logistics) OR equivalent experience
Experience Requirements
Ability to learn of rail transportation including logistics and fleet management
Ability to learn of Railcar Maintenance & AAR regulations
Ability to learn NGFA Grain Trade Rules
Ability to learn standard software applications as well as our ERP system
Strong communication, math, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Experience Preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Normal climate-controlled office environment. Able to move freely throughout the office. Able to communicate on the telephone and use standard office equipment.
