Summary
We are recruiting for a R&D Lab Technician. Executes assigned development activities with supervision. Conducts experiments in lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing facilities.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conducts bench top and pilot plant testing as specified by Supervisor, Food Technologists and/or Engineers.
Sets up and operates kitchen, lab, and pilot plant equipment. Disassembles, sanitizes, and reassembles equipment as required.
Prepares for required experiments and tests by acquiring ingredients and equipment. Follows GMP and USDA procedures as needed. Arranges for material shipment to and from test facilities following USDA regulations.
Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Documents work as required in a timely manner.
Assists other departments and technologists as assigned.
Participates in and upholds required programs including but not limited to HACCP, Process Verified Programs, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Minimum Education and Experience
REQUIRED: High School graduate plus 2 years work experience.
Minimum 1 year food experience or equivalent.
Oral and written communication and planning skills.
Must know Microsoft Word and Excel.
Basic technical skills (high school chemistry and math or equivalent).
Must work well with others and able to take direction.
Must be organized and conduct housekeeping activities to maintain clean and sanitary work areas.
PREFERRED: Associates Degree, Knowledge of HACCP, Detail focused
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly active but may require some sedentary desk work.
May need to move equipment or supplies from one place to another.
Will be required to work in 50⁰F wet environment often
Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis
When in the pilot plant or plant environment:
Exposure to wet floors which include epoxy and concrete floors and metal or plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of -14 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product -14 degrees to 205 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
