Summary
The Regulatory Labeling Manager provide guidance to the organization regarding food labeling issues and changing federal regulations; maintain 100% legal compliance. Work closely with Marketing, R&D and Legal regarding potential of new and novel product label statements to maintain competitive advantage Responsible for regulatory labeling of all company channels.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as regulatory labeling technical expert for the QA, R+D and Marketing by staying in close contact with Federal agency regulatory process. Work cross functionally to implement label changes as dictated by USDA.
Maintain 100% regulatory compliance for these aspects of product labels:
Nutritional labeling
Ingredient labeling, Allergens
Product Claims: Low Fat, Good Source of Protein, Gluten Free
Animal Raising Claims: Organic, Cage Free, No GMO
Manage regulatory staff who are responsible for daily document exchange with USDA to obtain official label approvals.
Audit retail product nutrition with focus on front panel nutritional statements.
Maintain nutritional modeling database.
Work to continually improve label process striving for best in class performance via Information Technology.
Experience Requirements
BS degree or equivalent related work experience preferably in Food Science, Nutrition, Biology or Chemistry. Our ideal candidate will have:
Five years of related work experience
Experienced in managing change within an organization in response to federal food regulations.
Experience with design and/or implementation / management of Enterprise or Information Management System.
Working knowledge of human nutrition, familiarity with food / feed formulation.
Expert in USDA food labeling requirements: FSIS, AMS including CN Child Nutrition School Program crediting and labeling.
Familiarity with CFIA Canadian labeling requirements, other Export country labeling implications as well as FDA and AAFCO
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position can be sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment:
Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degree to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food and processing plant.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
