Primary focus is retail sales & activity support with key Niman Ranch retailers, distributors, and brokers. Duties will include: working in market with local distributor teams/sales reps, working closely with the Senior Sales Director to build sales and brand loyalty and assisting with sales & marketing key relationships. The individual will be responsible for establishing and maintaining customer relationships with assigned key customers. Enhances and supports partner retail sales by providing point-of-purchase and store audits.
This person will sit in the Seattle, WA or Portland, OR area.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sell complete line of fresh Pork, Beef & Lamb and processed items into all qualified stores in the region, with a major focus on the top 15 processed items, Deli & Charcuterie.
Work with Senior Sales Director to set priorities that will drive velocity of key items with promotions, POS and other sales and marketing tools on an on-going basis.
Provide merchandising support to key customers with placement of Niman Ranch POS.
Maintain contact and CRM database with all stores and communication of programs to assure success.
Seek out new store opportunities, present Niman Ranch programs and secure new placements within existing as well as new customers.
Provides clear verbal and written information by reporting growth, expansion, or changes within customers in assigned territory.
Maintains quality standards/results by following an enforcing standards.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Enhances merchandising and organization reputation by accepting ownership/responsibility for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Support region's overall growth by assisting with retail calls, distributor events and other sales support functions in the territory
Determines call schedule by reviewing priorities with Senior Sales Director, discussing special instructions, product promotions, new products and price changes.
Maintains customer relationships by visiting with store managers, department managers and associates; answering their questions; responding to special requests; describing product features.
Maintains store shelves by observing displays of Niman Ranch products; removing damaged or freshness-dated products; tidying store shelves; providing optimum display of products.
Maintains display inventory by restocking shelves with product from inventory; observing inventory levels; prompting store management to reorder when levels appear low; arranging for return and credit for damaged products.
Ensure prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems.
Completes call reports by observing display and pricing of competitors' products.
Helps Sales Directors with special promotions, observing customer reaction to special promotions; forwarding observations to management.
- Bachelors degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration. 8-10 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
8 - 10 years experience.
Requires strong reading, writing, communication and analytical skills.
Management experience required.
Must be able to communicate with customers and suppliers.
Basic meat knowledge a must
Must have a solid understanding of customer-focused and fact-based selling, including syndicated data.
Must be reliable self-starter & determined to win
Must be located near a major airport hub.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for traveling. Monthly car allowance provided.
Proficiency in written & verbal communication
Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
CRM expertise, preferably with Salesforce
Must be able to travel overnight ot customer/vendor locations and/or plant locations.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
