Summary

We are hiring for a Research Farm Technician at our Research Facility. Work hours may be adjusted as needed to meet the needs of the location.

Normal schedule is Monday through Friday 6 AM to 2:30 PM with a weekend rotation, usually every third week.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Function as part of a team to complete various trial tasks as needed.

  • Prepare houses between trials for the start of the next trial. This includes caking out litter, blowing down dust and cobwebs, sweeping and general cleaning.

  • Will assist with all aspects of the raising of trial birds from egg to harvest.

  • Follow Poultry Welfare and other Poultry Verified Processes (PVP).

  • Data entry and other clerical duties as needed. This includes but is not limited to recording feed weights, bird weights and mortality information onto pen charts.

  • Must be able to work a variable schedule consisting of early mornings and occasionally late nights which also may include holidays and weekends.

  • Perform facility maintenance as required.

  • Perform any other duties as outlined by management and necessary for operations.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED

  • Basic math and basic computer skills preferred.

  • Ability to read and write in English.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

1 - 3 years in a farm environment preferred

This is a biosecurity requirement: Candidates cannot raise backyard chickens, geese or any other type of bird or have any type of pet birds.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Exposed to temperatures ranging from local outdoor winter to local outdoor summer and up to 105 degrees inside chicken houses; humidity up to 100%. Ability to safely lift and move up to 50lbs as needed. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel repeatedly as needed. Work in a dusty environment. Must use personal protective equipment as required. Must be able to travel throughout the facility as needed.
